Our Radio Project

Ten of us have been given the chance to make a radio programme. We have decided to talk about sport. We will talk about the sports we like to play and watch. Many of us tried the ice skating in Lincoln last Christmas and hope to go again his year. We would like to be able to go in the summer too, but there are no facilities, so we intend to talk to Michael Armstrong who is the man in charge and find out why.

We split into two groups of five and tried to think of lots of ideas of how our programme might sound. We had already decided that the main theme was sport, so we talked about who liked what and the list included football, rugby, swimming, ice skating, motor racing, and fencing.

Dave and Leon are helping us to conduct interviews and write scripts. Once the interviews have taken place we will learn how to edit them. This is Jack interviewing Tim who likes to play and watch football.

A top team, who produced a top product which was broadcast on SIREN FM, Lincoln's Community Station. The whole group should be very proud of what they achieved in a relatively short time. You can listen to our programme by clicking on the play button at the top of the page.

This project is supported by "Mediabox" and has been organised by SIREN FM, Lincoln's Community Radio Station and the University of Lincoln. Following three workshops in the school, students and teachers will spend an afternoon in the radio station's studios and put the final programme together. This will involve writing scripts, operating equipment and joining all the interviews together to produce the programme which will then be broadcast. It will be available on air across the whole city and on the internet anywhere in the world at www.sirenonline.co.uk. Dave Bussey and Leon Sherman will assist and advise where necessary, but the work will be carried out by the student themselves.
