Hi guys,
While the schools have been on holiday I have been working away at collecting audio for the Ermine Primary School history project. It has been a real privilege going into peoples homes and hearing their stories of life on the estate. Ultimately this material will all go into an archive for future generations but will hopefully be available for general consumption in the autumn.
My golf is not getting any better and the weather isn't helping, roll on a bit of sunshine.!
I was asked to present the "Lincolnshire Diamond" awards which recognises contributions to the community and I felt very honoured to have been chosen. It was a lovely afternoon with sandwiches, cakes, strawberries and champagne. Most importantly it recognised the efforts of county folk and in honouring fourteen contributions it also picked an overall winner, Margaret Phillips, affectionately known as Mrs P. She has been a volunteer for the homeless charity, The Nomad Trust since it started out as a day shelter in Free School Lane in 1984. She now works two days a week at the charity shop in Monks Road, as well as one day polishing pews at Lincoln Cathedral and was described as an inspirational volunteer who is still going strong at the age of 90. I spent a few minutes talking to her and she was absolutely lovely and full of energy. You would never think she was 90 years old. A real winner, both in the awards and in her community. Listen to her below.
I'm still getting lots of requests to speak to groups so please contact me via this website if you would like me to visit you.
Well that's it for now, best wishes to you and your families. Please contact me if I can help you in the future or have any comments to make and feel free to sign my "Visitor book".
Thanks for staying in touch.
